Fabulous Apron Making Friday| Candy Canes & Gingerbread Men Apron

Hi everyone!  As a little girl, my favorite Christmas treats were peppermint candy canes and freshly baked gingerbread!  When I spotted this candy cane and gingerbread men fabric in Joann Fabric I knew I had to make an apron for Christmas from it.  Now friends would you believe that I did not own a Christmas themed apron until now!

What I Did:
A sweet, Christmas candy cane themed waist apron edge-trimmed with medium rick-rack in the colors of red and white, featuring a contrasting pocket of Christmas gingerbread men also trimmed with rick-rack!

What I Used:
Butterick 5474.  Apron: Christmas Cotton Fabric, Ditsy Candy Canes on Black purchased from Joann Fabric.  Pocket: Noel Collection, Christmas Gingerbread Men purchased from Joann Fabric.

Christmas is only a few days away!  I hope you have finished all your holiday crafting.  Best wishes and enjoy the season!

Needlecraft Wednesday| Snow White Two Stitch Crochet Hat and Scarf Set

Welcome friends!
My Snow White Two Stitch Crochet Hat and Scarf Set reminds me of a favorite Christmas event; attending the Annual Christmas Parade and waiting for Santa Claus to appear on his sled!  On Parade day it always seemed to be freezing cold and Mom bundled me up in layers of clothing.  I enjoyed wearing a pretty hat and scarf to cover my ears and keep my neck warm.  That memory lives on with this hat and scarf set!

What I Used:

What I Did:
  • Stitches - Single crochet, Double crochet, Slip stitch
  • Skill Level - Easy
  • Finished Sizes - Scarf: 6 1/2" x 60", Hat: Fits 21" head circumference

Did you ever go to a Christmas Parade?  Share it with me in the comment section.  Please return on Fabulous Apron Friday to see my Candy Canes & Gingerbread Men Apron!

Monday's Minute| A Few Of My Favorite Christmas Things

Welcome to Monday's Minute:  A Minute About the Song: "My Favorite Things."
  • "My Favorite Things" is a 1959 song, originally from the Rogers and Hammerstein, musical The Sound of Music.
  • The song was fisrt performed by Maria (played by Mary Martin) and Mother Abbess (Patricia Neway in the original 1959 Broadway production.
  • Julie Andrews performed the song for the first time on the Christmas special for The Garry Moore Show in 1961, and then she starred in the 1965 film
  • My favorite version of this Christmas song if from the Supremes Merry Christmas Album! Click this Link to hear.
Please come back and see "My Favorite Christmas Things" featured on Needlecraft Wendesday and Fabulous Apron Friday. Have a great week.

Sewful Sewing Sunday| A Hoot Owl Apron

Hello everyone!  Here is a handmade "Hoot Owl Apron" for Fabulous Apron Friday.  Oops it's Sewful Sunday isn't it?  Well my friends, I am a little late getting this apron done.  Yet very happy to share this apron with you!

What I Did:
I love this waist apron with its gorgeous color scheme of a sky blue background featuring polka dot and chevron owls and birds surrounded by hot pink, orange, lime green, white and light pink flowers and leaves.  I added a "dainty" detail by applying a white ruffle trim to the upper pocket edge and the apron's edging.

What I Used:
McCall's Craft 9890 purchased from Walmart.  Color Chevron and Dot Owl and Bird Fabric by David Textiles purchased from Hobby Lobby.

I hope you have enjoyed this week of Hoot Owls.

(An Update: This apron became a sweet Christmas gift for the young daughter of a friend who is learning to cook!)
